Knoll's HDMI baluns allow you to maximize your home
theater by being able to display 1080p up 114' from a Blu-ray player without
any noticeable degradation or distortion. Longer distances can be achieved
when using lower resolution video such as 1080i. Best of all installations
using the Knoll HDMI balun system are legal because it uses fire and safety
rated low cost cat5 wires. Most HDMI cables are unrated for in wall use,
so are illegal to use.
These baluns feature an infrared port on both units
that make it possible to use infrared remote controls throughout the home.
These baluns work with HD satellite boxes, TiVo, PVR's, HD up convertors.
Knoll HDMI baluns support DVI or M1DA with optional adaptors.
The Knoll transmission system works better than conventional "balun"
systems because the Knoll transmission system relies on active electronics
rather than transformers that can saturate and are not as linear as active
systems.
The multi transmission system comprises:
1. Send Unit for transmitting the HDMI signals as well as sending or receiving
infrared signals.
2. Receive Unit for receiving the HDMI signals as well as sending or receiving
infrared signals.
Two category 5e or category 6 wires are required for the Knoll HDMI balun
system.
The send and receive unit can both accept power. Both units are powered
with one 12 VDC power supply on either the send or receive. We suggest
using our PS1202 power supply.
The send and receive units are available in a black enclosures and as
well as an in wall Decora style . Decora style plate colors are white,
ivory, almond and black. There is no HDMI six outlet hub available at
this time.
The Knoll balun system uses very little power and is normally left on
or it can be switched on and off with a switched outlet. A led lamp shows
if power is connected properly on both the send and receive unit.
The Knoll HDMI balun system has an adjustment for cable lengths on the
receive unit.
Category 5e or category 6 maximum cable length is 114 feet (35 meters)
for 1080p and 130 feet (40+ meters) for 1080i, 720p or 480i/p transmission.
